  Problem 2 of this homework set is trickier than it looks upon first sight. The Jordan form of the square of a matrix may not be real, but since the complex eigenvalues must be conjugated, we can apply the Real Jordan Form Theorem to construct a real matrix. After that, it is necessary we show the matrix logarithm exists.
